Open your Rivian USB drive

Plug in the drive and select it. Rivian names the drive android when it formats it, so look for that name on any computer. You can also choose any folder that holds GearGuardVideo, RoadCam or IncidentCam footage.

You can also drag a folder onto this window. Your footage plays right in your browser from the drive; nothing is uploaded unless you turn on cloud backup.

How it works

  1. Plug in the driveTake the USB drive out of your Rivian and plug it into a Mac or PC.
  2. Open it in OverlookChoose the drive (it’s named “android”). Overlook sorts Gear Guard, Incident Cam, saved clips and drives.
  3. Watch every angleAll four cameras play in sync. Mark a moment, export a clip or snapshot, and add notes.

How do I watch Rivian Gear Guard footage on a Mac or PC?

Plug the Rivian USB drive into your computer, open overlookcam.app in Chrome or Edge, click “Choose drive or folder” and select the drive. Rivian names it “android”. Overlook finds your Gear Guard, Incident Cam and RoadCam recordings and plays every camera in sync.

Is my footage uploaded anywhere?

Not unless you choose to. Overlook reads the files straight from your drive and plays them in your browser. Your videos stay on your computer unless you choose to back them up with Overlook Plus.

Which browsers work?

Chrome, Edge and Arc work best and can reopen your drive next time. Safari and Firefox work through a folder-upload dialog that still stays on your computer. Phones and tablets can’t open a USB drive folder in the browser, so open the drive on a computer. With Overlook Plus, recordings you back up can be watched on any phone or tablet.

What does Overlook Pro add?

A one-time $29 purchase unlocks combined video export (all cameras in one MP4 with a timestamp bar), activity detection, fisheye correction, backing up footage to your computer, evidence packages for insurance or police, and removes ads. Overlook Plus adds cloud backup and share links.

Does Overlook work offline?

Yes. After your first visit Overlook works without an internet connection, and you can install it as an app from your browser.

Is Overlook made by Rivian?

No. Overlook is an independent app by CTT Apps LLC and isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Rivian.
